Cell Phone & Text Message Use by Age

 Text message use has hit a new high according to a new study by Pew Research Center (February, 2011).  According to the study, 85% of all American adults now own a cell phone and 72% of Americans send or receive text messages.

MILLENIALS -- Age 18-34

95% own cell phone & 94% text

GENERATION X -- Age 35-46

92% own cell phone & 83% text

YOUNGER BOOMERS -- Age 47-56

86% own cell phone & 68% text

OLDER BOOMERS -- Age 57-65

84% own cell phone & 49% text

SILENT GENERATION -- Age 66 - 74

68% own cell phone & 27% text

G.I. GENERATION -- Age 75+

48% own cell phone & 9% text
