4 Billion Text Messages Per Day

If you think your teenage daughter sends a lot of text messages, think again. It’s nothing compared to the amount of text messages being sent worldwide.
Figures released by the CTIA show that during the first six months of 2009 over 740 billion text messages were sent! That breaks down to about 4.1 billion text messages per day! That’s 17 text messages per cell phone, per day!
And, while we are texting more, people are actually talking less. Average call length for cell phone calls topped 3.13 minutes in 2007. In 2009, with the increase in text messages, average talking time dropped to just 2.03 minutes.
